Objective: I am a Graduate student, majoring in bioprocessing and bioenergy. Over the past semester, I have been working in IBRL & as a research assistant (PI: Prof. Vijay Singh) to improve my fermentation and technical skills. As part of my previous graduate school experience, I was a part of multiple projects related to bioenergy and over a span of 2 years helped to standardize assays, produce bioethanol, biobutanol and biodiesel along with mentoring undergraduate students.
Desired Field: My areas of interest include: bioprocessing, bioenergy and forest bio materials. Being in the field of bioenergy for a couple of years now has taught me that there is tremendous scope for growth in the field and that the future is bright. Having just entered the biomaterial field as well, I can say that I am getting to learn a lot of new things every day.
In the future I would want to further expand my fermentation skills and look for opportunities in the field of beverage alcohol particularly wine production as well as the production of biofuel from algae.
Projects: Cell plating, cell counting with hemocytometers, pH adjusting
Equipment Capabilities: Bench-top fermentation set up and sampling, Reducing sugar estimation by DNSA method, Total Carbohydrate estimation by PSA method, Alcohol estimation by Dichromate method, Shaking incubators, Centrifugation systems, Laminar Airflow systems
Relevant Skills: Super Pro Designer (modeling, evaluation and optimization of integrated batch and continuous processes in a wide range of industries.), HPLC Sample preparation and data analysis, Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point)”
